MANDATORY IN THE 2ND BASKETBALL BUNDESLIGA: ALL MATERIALS MUST BE TESTED

Anyone using floor stickers in the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga (ProA) must ensure that all materials used are tested and comply with FIBA standards. This applies not only to the stickers themselves - but also to the tape used for fastening and edge protection.

Game and Event Regulations 2nd Basketball Bundesliga GmbH, dated 26 January 2026, page 68: All materials used must be tested and comply with FIBA standards - including tape for fastening floor stickers.

In practice, floor stickers in sports halls are often secured with standard tape - for example to tape down edges or for additional fixation. But this is exactly where a risk arises: If the tape is not tested, the club violates the game and event regulations - even if the sticker itself meets all standards.

Testing refers to DIN EN 14904 - the European standard for indoor sports floors. This standard regulates, among other things: - Slip resistance of the surface - Residue-free removability - No damage to the hall floor - No impairment of playing characteristics

All materials used on the court must be tested according to this standard - this explicitly includes tape.
